Revisiting Taal, the Heritage Town

The other day, we went to Taal to visit Abby’s Garden Resort, one of our clients in our website development company. I still can’t get to commuting to Taal but it ended fine anyways.

It was Jackie’s first time to Taal and if only we have the luxury of time, we could have toured around a bit.

We have featured Taal for quite a number of times here. Remember our stories of the first El Pasubat Festival?

We are also getting inquiries from time to time about the largest Catholic Church in Asia – Basilica of St. Martin de Tours.

What do you like most about Taal? If you’re like Jackie who’s a first time visitor in the Heritage Town, these are the things that you should see, eat, and experience in Taal, Batangas:

The houses, something old and beautiful. We got the chance to join the Visita De Las Casas or the tour around the heritage houses owned by the town’s most influential families.

Oh my empanada!. Gerlie and I currently have a client for a beach wedding this March. The groom is British and the bride is Pinay but she’s not a Batangueña, although they have been residing in Batangas City for two years now. In our visit to the wedding attire supplier we booked, we brought the couple to Taal Public Market to introduce to them the local favorite — empanada.

The verdict? They loved it! We weren’t able to tell them to buy tapang Taal though.

Balisong or the butterfly knife is one of the trademarks of the Province of Batangas. In Taal, where the authentic balisongs are made, there are a couple of sizes to choose from.

Tanauan City Museum Houses the History of the Premiere City of CALABARZON

A progressive city is always backed up by a rich cultural background. If you are to do a research about the history, arts, and culture of Tanauan City, lucky you because the city’s museum will give you all that. Or probably more.

Tanauan City Museum is actually the old municipal hall. It was turned into a museum on January 14, 2004 under the administration of Mayor Alfredo Corona. The museum’s most interesting feature is the diorama of the entire city. Tanauan officially became a city on March 10, 2001.

Inside the museum are memorabilia of Tanaueños who played important part in history and culture of the city. From ancient artifacts to kitchenware, to old documents and photos, the museum will let you travel back in time.

Educational field trips are conducted here from time to time as students in and around Batangas familiarize themselves with loads of interesting facts depicted in all the items confined in such a fine edifice.

This museum is among the most interesting places to visit in Tanauan City. So in case you’re driving down here, don’t forget your camera and the old reliable pen and paper duo for a day of reliving the past of the Premiere City of CALABARZON, Tanauan City.

Museo ni Apolinario Mabini at ang Pagdiriwang ng Kanyang ika-150ng Kaarawan

Brgy. Talaga, Tanauan City, Batangas – Kaninang umaga, gaano man kalakas ang ulan at hangin dahil sa habagat, ay tuluyang binuksan muli sa publiko ang Museo ni Apolinario Mabini, ang kanang-kamay ni Emilio Aguinaldo at kilala bilang “Utak ng Himagsikan”.

Sa pangunguna ng National Historical Commission of the Philippines at sa tulong ng Lungsod ng Tanauan, ang dating nasisira ng gusali ay ginawang moderno na ngayon at magbibigay sa lahat ng pupunta rito ng pangkalahatang kaalaman sa buhay ng isa sa mga sikat nating bayaning Batangueno.

Sinimulan ang programa ng Punonglungsod ng Tanauan na si Antonio Halili, at sunod namang nagsalita ang Pangulo ng Pilipinas na si Benigno Aquino III.

Dinaluhan ang pagdiriwang na ito ng mga Mayor ng Batangas, mga kawani ng Kapitolyo ng Batangas, Sangguniang Panlalawigan sa pangunguna ni Vice Gov. Mark Leviste, mga kawani ng Pambansang Pamahalaan, mga kawani, guro at estudyante ng Lungsod ng Tanauan, at iba pang mga bisita mula sa lalawigan.

Pagpasok mo pa lamang sa mismong Museo ni Mabini ay mapapansin mong makabago, makulay at maganda na ang presentasyon ng mga datos at mga gamit patungkol kay Ka Pule. Maluwag, maliwanag rin at malamig sa loob, hindi gaya ng mga datihan ng museo.

Kapag humupa-hupa na ang ulan, magtungo na kayo sa pinakabagong museo ng Pilipinas at narito lang yan sa Batangas.
